Executive Tour: Foxes or Hedgehogs? Approaches to management in the knowledge economy.

Wednesday, May 31, 2017   12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Location: Toronto, Canada

IE, one of the world's leading educational institutions, is launching its 2017 Senior Executive Tour across North America. We will be visiting five cities —New York, Washington DC, Toronto, Miami and Los Angeles — to meet high-level executives who share common competencies and are looking to have an impact on their organizations and society.
We would like to invite you to participate in our forthcoming event in Toronto where you will be joined by Rolf Strom-Olsen, IE Professor.

The ancient Greek poet Archilochus wrote “the fox knows many little things, but the hedgehog knows one important thing.” Using this simple typology, the British thinker Isaiah Berlin argued it stood for a fundamental intellectual divide: the fox refers to those who are drawn to the intangible, centrifugal and intuitive, while the hedgehog represents those who are quantitative, centripetal and scientific. Rolf will discuss the fox-hedgehog typology to promote a discussion of management practices in the knowledge economy and elicit ideas about how best to adapt to the challenges of effectively managing intangible elements within the firm.
