Brown Alumni Medal Goes to Google's Ramaswamy - Brains Behind Google Advertising
Meet the brains behind Google advertising. Google executive Sridhar Ramaswamy '95 PhD is the 2016 recipient of the Horace Mann Medal. The honor is bestowed annually to a Brown University Graduate School alumnus or alumna who has made significant contributions in his or her field.
We wanted to share this story with the IE Brown community because it provides an excellent example of how Brown’s interdisciplinary excellence molds thinkers that can leap across silos to change the way the world does business. In the case of Dr. Ramaswamy, he leveraged a PhD in computer science to turn marketing on its head and reinvent the way the world advertises.
As Senior Vice President for Ads and Commerce at Google, Dr. Ramaswamy has helped to shape the global online advertising business, while helping create Google's multi-billion dollar advertising business and its original product, AdWords. He leads Google's advertising and commerce business, which encompasses search advertising, display and video advertising, Google Shopping, Android Pay and many more global platforms.
