Reflections One Year Out, Brian Norris IE Brown 2016

Brian Norris graduated in 2016 from the IE Brown program. One year later, Brian has been promoted to vice president of DISH Media Sales where he oversees DISH and Sling TV’s advertising sales, analytics and operations.

Just past the one year mark from his IE Brown graduation, we asked him if he still finds value in the program.

“IE Brown remains an important pillar in my life. As the leader of a breakthrough team in an established company, I frequently refer to my IE Brown notes and readings for guidance and ideas. In fact, I keep them readily available in a folder on my desktop screen.

Plus, IE Brown continues to fuel my network. It’s a great way to add value to my relationships. I just attended the graduation of a colleague at Dish that I recommended to the program and plan to attend in 2018 to celebrate another student that I encouraged to join.”

On the unique value of IE Brown, Norris commented,

“If you want to be the best in a changing industry, you can’t just rely on a cutting-edge idea that grabs eyeballs and revenue in the short term. You have to be the best beyond business. Look at some of the high growth start-ups in Silicon Valley. They have revolutionized the way we live but some of them are teetering because they have not fostered an environment that embraces emotional intelligence and diversity."

IE Brown empowers you to drive growth by seeing business in the context of society and as a profoundly human endeavor. Traditional business courses are a commodity. It’s what’s you master beyond business - how to work with people and lead change - that powers long-term success.”
